I call dibs on Teagan Hunter. Forever.

With the release of Text Me Baby One More Time, we have the conclusion to the Texting series. An interconnected, stand alone series of RomCom gold (*HIGHLY recommended to read in order, however, trust me).

I love you, he said.

Forever, he said.

Turns out, he lied.

When he leaves me high and dry after a cross-country move, I push him out of my life as much as I can, which is hard to do when the guy who broke your heart also happens to be the most famous dude in town.

After a disastrous year, he’s aiming to rehab his reputation, and I just so happen to be aiming for a promotion at the paper.

So, we strike a deal, and it’s a win-win all around.

Besides, what’s the harm in a few dates to charity galas anyway?

He’s arrogant, a total jerk. There’s no way I’ll fall for him…again.

I used to love him. Now I hate him…I think.

Text Me Baby One More Time is a second chance, enemies (but ARE they?) to lovers romance that packs a heady dose of humor, swoon and yes, yes, sexy times.

“Well, this tension-filled silence is my cue. Have a good night with your right hand, [Cap].” And there it is. This tension she’s referring to is unfinished business. We both know it, and if I can get [Bucky] to give me the time of day, I intend to finish it. “I’ll have you know I’m a switch-hitter. I was going to give Lefty some showtime tonight.”

Teagan blends humor and heart so seamlessly, and I find myself in awe at how she writes these characters straight into our own hearts, forever. The bantering (throughout the entire series even) is effortless and relatable. It’s so natural, it’s easy to forget it’s fiction.

The way Teagan writes is so unassuming, one moment I’m laughing, literally, out loud, the next, my stomach bottoms out in the best way from the intense, subtle swoon I mention so frequently. The sex is hot, the romance is real, and the high you’ll be feeling from it all is lethal.

Cap and Bucky. Oy. Bucky and Cap. These two- their undeniable and unavoidable attraction of mind, body and heart is palatable.

Young love isn’t always right, but when it is, it’s the rightest kind of right there is…and if my heart is telling me one thing, it’s that [Cap] and me? We’re right, and I’m ready to fight for it.

They share a history, one of our kismet, one that hurts, one that you feel yourself yelling out famously, “I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU” as it crumbles suddenly but not altogether unexpectedly. I mean, we need some kind of angsty bullshit bullshit to allow for angry sex, yeah?

If we’re not slinging insults at one another, we don’t know how to act. You’d never guess from the way we interact that [Bucky] and I share a long, painful history.

It’s difficult not to go into great detail, because while this story is fun and generally light-hearted, going in blind is the best thing you could do. There is texting, there is quick wit, A PUG, nerdiness, redemption and an encore from an ensemble cast we have grown to love so fiercely.

Nothing I say will do this story, this series, Teagan herself, any justice. You have to experience it for yourself, and you can thank me later.

…what if you were everything I expected and hoped for? What if we did work out? What if we didn’t fail? What if you didn’t regret it for a second? What if the fucking Pope shits in the goddamn woods? There are a lot of what-ifs in life.” She shakes her head. “Being chickenshit isn’t a reason to walk away from something.”

“Wrong Number, Right Guy” Let’s Get Textual, by Teagan Hunter

Coincidentally, it is in the follow up to Let’s Get Textual that describes this story so simply, and perfectly-

Somehow that wrong number turned into the purest, easiest love I’ve ever witnessed.

I Wanna Text You Up, Teagan Hunter

Contemporary romance, romantic comedies, these are not my go-to when I’m looking for quality smut. I want it dangerous, dark and dirty as fuck. Somehow, Teagan Hunter slipped in with her dick (and clit!) jokes and baby goats and I fell in love. My fangirl status went from “Oh, she’s some author that wrote these books my best friend loves” to ” HI TEAGAN, IT’S ME AGAIN, I KNOW I’M A LITTLE CRAZY BUT LET’S PLEASE BE BEST FRIENDS, THANKS!”

Zach: What about Mexican?

Me: Can I just eat the free chips and salsa?

Zach: No. How about Italian?

Me: Can you be any more cliche?

Zach: I’m sure I can find a way.

Zach: Are you allergic to anything?

Me: Human souls.

Let’s Get Textual, Teagan Hunter

I bought Let’s Get Textual to take with my to Holidays with the Belles (a signing event in Dallas, Texas this coming February)- and I realized that with just over two weeks left until then, I should probably introduce myself to some of the HWTB authors’ writing that I have yet to read.

I started reading in the car pick-up line yesterday afternoon, without any regard to the the title or the glorious abs gracing the cover (and I’m typically an arms and back girl, but dayum Teagan, where’d you find this stud?).

By chapter three I was cackling so loud and and hell bent on the television babysitting the spawn for the rest of the night so mama could read. “Just call the T.V. Mom, kids!” (this happens more than I should probably admit to be honest) I finished the book within 7 hours of off and on reading. The pacing is quick, but not rushed, and even so I desperately wanted more. More of Zach and Delia.

Their banter was effortless, and so fucking relatable. Their chemistry was like a sky full of cliched fireworks, but still, undeniably natural and got me feelin’ some kind of way. I would laugh and then swoon, laugh, then swoon- it was like a happy horny roller coaster complete with cockblocking goat.

We’re lying face to face in the middle of the bed, the blanket draped over our waists, grinning like fools.

“What?” I whisper.

“I made it in.”

“What?” I ask again, confused.

“Your special Hufflepuff-only chamber of secrets.”

Let’s Get Textual, Teagan Hunter

There isn’t much drama, or even graphic, gratuitous sex (something far more common in my regular smut reads), but that subtle swoon and sweetness on top of the humor was more than enough to satisfy. Teagan just proves that you don’t always need constant thrusting cocks and panties that need changing after a single look to write a wonderfully addictive, romantic, hilarious story.

The only downside to reading an actual paperback is I don’t highlight every snarky comment or sexy scene or confession of love- but let me tell you right fucking now, Let’s Get Textual is worthy of any and all lady boners (admitted or not). I’ve got a massive girl crush on Teagan’s writing and am currently binging the rest of the Text series.

“I could love you one day, Zach,” I whisper against his mouth.

“I think it’s too late for me, Delia.”
